Monte Hellman's 1988 film Iguana devises a half-reptile, half-man creature by virtue of a horribly disfiguring birth defect. After being mistreated by his fellow sailors as subhuman, Iguana escapes to a deserted island where he declares war on mankind. In addition to being expelled from the daily social fabric of society, Iguana was also unable to procreate as a normal man. In the end he willingly embraces his "otherness" by declaring himself separate both geographically and biologically from all of mankind.
